Given the scope of World of Tanks maps it is always a team undertaking. Himmelsdorf was one of the maps I was given to oversee for the Xbox One. It was a very exciting one to work on given the degree to which the city was already destroyed on other platforms. Working on the new console however allowed for a much more convincing level of detail in terms of debris, vfx, and decals. I was responsible for the level's lighting, mood, atmosphere, color palette and vfx placement while laying down (and creating on occasion) a wide array of decals. I also created and painted down pretty much all of the grass, rocks, rubble/debris, trash, and anything else I could arm the foliage tool with. For the trees, myself and fellow artists worked with speed tree library assets as well as some custom assets to fill our shared pool with foliage suited to our needs across all of the maps. Finally, all of the terrain textures required a PBR update which we tackled as a team across the game supplementing the process with our own custom textures along the way. All of the HD props are products of the Kiev studio and its respective outsource teams.
